Every child's story deserves a happy ending....

PHYSICAL ABUSE

Physical Abuse is when a child is:

  • Beaten or Hit with anything (like for example: a stick, a belt, a shambock or a fist).

  • Burned with anything (like for example a cigarette, hot iron or anything else that burns the skin).

  • Kicked or bitten, or shaken hard.

  • Stuck with pins (or anything sharp).

  • Strangled.

  • Suffocated.

  • Tied up.

  • Locked into a small space.

  • Murdered.

Physical Abuse is WRONG
and it is AGAINST THE LAW!

No adult or older child has the right to touch a child's private parts or show the child their private parts, even if they are a member of the child's family.

If abuse is taking place in your family, phone Childline Gauteng on 08000 55555 and speak to one of our trained, caring counsellors. It is a free call and you can call any time of the day or night from any phone. You don't have to give your name, if you don't want to.

Your child needs to be helped if they have been abused, otherwise they will build-up a lot of hurt and anger inside, which could lead to psychological and social problems. It is too often the case that "the abused becomes the abuser" - as child abuse is a cycle that begins with a child being abused and continues until the child is an adult, abusing his or her own children.

Help us stop the cycle of abuse.
