Every child's story deserves a happy ending....

SEXUAL ABUSE

Sexual Abuse is when an adult shows a child his or her private parts or wants to see the child's private parts. Sexual Abuse is also if an adult touches a child's private parts, either with hands, mouth or the adult's private parts - or if the adult has sexual intercourse with the child, masturbates in front of the child or forces the child to do so. Sexual Abuse is if an adult shows a child pornographic material (such as videos or pictures) or takes photographs or videos of the child's private parts.

Sexual Abuse is WRONG and it is AGAINST THE LAW!

No adult or older child has the right to touch a child's private parts or show the child their private parts, even if they are a member of the child's family.

Sexual Abuse is:

  • An adult showing a child his or her genitals.

  • An adult touching a child's genitals.

  • An adult having a child touch his or her genitals.

  • Oral genital contact.

  • Forced masturbation.

  • Digital penetration.

  • Intercourse or sodomy.

  • Production of child pornography, or showing a child

  • pornographic material.

  • Voyeurism

Child abusers KNOW what they are doing is wrong and they are sick individuals who need help from a counsellor.

If abuse is taking place in your family, phone Childline on 08000 55555 and speak to one of our trained, caring counsellors. It is a free call and you can call any time of the day or night from any landline. You don't have to give your name, if you don't want to.

Your child needs to be helped if they have been abused, otherwise they will build-up a lot of hurt and anger inside, which could lead to psychological and social problems. It is too often the case that "the abused becomes the abuser" - as child abuse is a cycle that begins with a child being abused and continues until the child is an adult, abusing his or her own children.

Help us stop the cycle of abuse.
