COUNSELING AND SUPPORT SERVICES FOR CHILDREN & THEIR FAMILIES

The main objective of this key service is to provide long term, supportive, culturally sensitive, and protective counseling services to child survivors, adult survivors and child offenders of sexual abuse.

  • Presentation on Children and Women's Experiences of the Criminal Justice System - Centre for Applied Legal Studies Workshop

  • HOD attended SA Institute for Traumatic Studies training on sexual abuse

  • TB tests for all staff

  • End of year Christmas party

  • Participation in the national committee of the South African Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect

  • Co-ordination of services with Teddy Bear Clinic and Catts

  • Research into new treatment techniques for abused children including hypnotherapy, Reiki, Spiral Therapy and kinesiology

  • Training of young leaders - Common Purpose

  • Learnership programme

  • Relationship with Riverlea Community Development Project

  • Participation in the National Children & Violence Trust into research into the criminal justice system

  • International conference on families

  • Participation in the national workshop on policy for orphans and vulnerable children
